Hi Aly, I saw this post a while ago but never got around to commenting about it. I lived here too from 2005-2006 and for part of the time lived in that same room. How did you like being in England? Did you stay for both winter and spring semesters? It's always surprising and a bit odd when I run across someone who also attended remote little Capernwray all the way out in Carnforth England :) Becca
PS - I have been following your blog for over a year now and it has become a daily read. Your aesthetic is so clean and fresh; simply lovely!
Oh gosh, the Capernwray experience was an interesting one for me. I was only there for the Spring term in 2004 (I think?). It was mostly positive, but when I think back on it, the memories come back to me more in the form of a dream than reality. I think that's because most of my time there, I was in a dream-like state. I was only partially present. The rest of my heart and mind was at home with someone else. So, sometimes it's hard for me to recall what I took away from that time and place. I only remember little bits and pieces. I did however love England and have been back to London a couple of times since. I also left that place with a life-long friend, who is from the Manchester area.
It is odd how many people pass through that school. There is one other reader here that also went to Capernwray whom I have yet to meet but have developed somewhat of an internet friendship with. It's pretty bizarre! I'd like to revisit the school someday, just to prove to myself that period of my life did in fact happen.
I am so glad you like it here! Thank you for saying hello. It makes me so happy when people comment.
